We have a lot to be fearful in today’s violent world, but the reality is that we have always had to hide ourselves from the world, our families, friends, schools and jobs. We have learned to be invisible, hiding in the shadows, waiting for a moment we can break out of our self and world imposed prisons.
Halloween, like queerism has been as controversial throughout the ages as to the meaning of this holiday and whether it’s something to celebrate or to be fearful of. I believe this holiday can give us a little freedom, enjoyment, peace and romance! I know the Witches own this holiday, but we need to have a sit down with them and get partial ownership!
I say this because we have to hide true selves on a daily basis, but on Halloween everyone gets to be whomever or whatever they want to be! I say, we be ourselves! Let loose, enjoy the world carefree for this one night which provides a safety element that removes the judgement of why you’re in a dress, dressed like a fairy and etc.
This Halloween, I challenge each and every queer, to be theirselves, love, laugh and be free to be you. You’re beautiful, nothing to be ashamed of, no need to hide!
THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR! FEEL THE LOVE!
